Szymon Pawelec

Attorney, member of the Warsaw Bar Chamber, associate professor (University of Warsaw), doctor of Juridical Science (Ph.D.), awarded the post-doctoral degree of “doktor habilitowany”, head of the Department of International Criminal Procedure at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw.

Szymon Pawelec received a Master’s degree in law (summa cum laude) at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw, where he was also awarded his doctorate in juridical science (Ph.D.). He also completed studies at the University of Florida American Law School and the University of Cambridge School of English and European Law. He is a scholarship holder of the Foundation for Polish Science.

He has been selected by the European Commission for the pool of arbitrators in bilateral disputes under the EU’s trade agreements with third countries. He represented the Polish Bar Council in the parliamentary works on the amendments introducing reforms of criminal procedure. He is a member of the programme council of the Scientific Centre of the Polish Bar Council and in the past was a vice president of its scientific council.

He has gathered broad professional experience in providing legal services before Polish and international courts, as well as advising them both in complex business projects and in individual legal problems. In the past, he worked for several leading international law firms, and since 2010 he has been running his own law firm.

Szymon Pawelec specializes in cases at the border area of commercial law, civil law, criminal law and criminal procedure, particularly in the areas of economic crimes, criminal compliance, corporate criminal liability, pre-trial detention, stock market and fiscal offence, protection of legal interests of corporate units and their representatives, extradition proceedings and intellectual property.

He has rich professional experience in strategic and crisis consulting in cases concerning civil, criminal and penal fiscal proceedings involving leading Polish and international business units and the members of their management.

Szymon Pawelec is the author of two books and over sixty other publications in the area of criminal law, criminal procedure and commercial law.
